| Exclusive! La Habra Heights, CA -
At the end of the December meeting of the City Council, Mayor Layne
Baroldi announced that he would not seek a second term citing work and
expanded family commitments. This despite the fact that he pulled
papers and announced he had already obtained 30 nomination signatures. Surprisingly, Planning Commission Chairperson Larry Black appointed by embattled councilman Howard Vipperman, who is seeking re election, was also in attendance for the bombshell announcement. When asked if he planned to run for the now open seat Black responded he was "considering consideration". Larry Black has served for seven and half years on the the City's Planning Commission and it has long been speculated that he would make a run for a seat on the City Council. Deadline for filing will now be extended until 6 p.m., Wednesday December 15th. Candidates must return nomination papers with at least 20-30 signatures of La Habra Heights registered voters. EOM |
